Emotional healing as part the package of salvation By Apostle John Kimani William

‘The benefits in the package of salvation’ is a sermon that was shared by Apostle John Kimani William. He shared this powerful message on 6th September 2023. It was during the monthly prayer festival, dubbed Unpacking the Package of Salvation.

In MATTHEW 1: 21 The Greek word sozo is translated as ‘saved’. It’s clear that it’s not just our eternal destination that God’s concerned about. The word ‘sozo’, has been used elsewhere in the New Testament is translated variously as ‘save, heal, make whole, deliver’.

Salvation does not end with receiving Christ.

The first use of the word is in Matthew 1:21, when the Lord speaks to Joseph in a dream to tell him not to be afraid of taking Mary as his wife. He says, ‘She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus (which means Saviour), because he will save (Greek=sozo) his people from their sins’.

Saving from sin is obviously the most important aspect of the work of Jesus on the cross, as it brings us into relationship with the Father, but salvation doesn’t end there. As our Father, God’s concerned about every aspect of our lives, including our physical and emotional well-being.

Sozo as the package of salvation

SOZO is a Greek word meaning wholeness. Wholeness in spirit, wholeness in soul (mind, will, and emotions) wholeness in body. It is complete healing for body, soul, and spirit.

Sozo as the package of salvation, is a gentle & effective ministry led by the Holy Spirit, bringing us into greater truth, & into greater intimacy with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. “That in all respects we would prosper & be in good health.”

PSALMS 49: 9 says “so that they should live on forever and not see decay”.

Painful consequences of the abuses may be physical, mental, spiritual and or emotional. Whether we have abused others, sometimes even repeating what has been done to us, or have been a victim of abuse, our thought processes may hold us in bondage to repetitive behavior and unresolved emotional suffering.

Inner healing refers to an attempt to free people from the negative emotional effects of harmful experiences. God wants to free us from negative emotions that arise from specific hurtful occasions in our lives, but He doesn’t need visualization techniques or prolonged emphasis on the past to do so.

THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS PRODUCE OUR ACTIONS

Thoughts and feelings play an important role in our lives. However, Apostle Kimani said, “We have to understand that as our feelings connect with our thoughts, emotions are formed. God created us with emotions so that our lives might be enriched. Imagine if God could have created us without emotions”.

God has given us an astonishing capacity for emotion in seemingly infinite combinations of types and intensities. Unfortunately, emotions and feelings are often viewed in negative terms. As a result, we may attempt to ignore some of our emotions and their effects in our lives.

But as we as we abide in Him (John 15:5) He transforms our hearts and heals us. But the key is focus on the Lord, not focus on us.

ISAIAH 53:1- 5 says, “Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Jesus was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed”.

MATTHEW 9: 22 “Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment”.

Is anyone among you in trouble?

JAMES 5: 13- 15 says,” Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven”.

Therefore, the best way to find true inner healing is to be honest with yourself about what you feel, and then go to God with those things, seeking answers. His Word will give you the answers you are seeking. The Bible is supernatural and wonderful and brings true inner healing. And if there is no concrete question in your mind—just a negative feeling—the answer is still to read the Word, because His Word is His Voice, and His voice has powerful created, healing power.

Healing is the basic need of a human being MATTHEW 15: 22- 27

Consequently, we have come to learn that Healing is the basic need of a human being. EXODUS 23: 24- 25 “Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces. Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,
